The Pros and Cons Of Planning Your Vacation A Year In Advance

When it comes to planning a vacation, you want to make sure you’ve thought of everything and included every detail. You’re trying to concentrate on so many things that it’s easy to become confused. You want to prepare for the unexpected, but you also want to ensure you get the best deal. Booking now would allow you to take advantage of some of the awesome travel deals being offered. But if you wait to book until just a few weeks before your departure, you might can avoid some of the unexpected pitfalls that could lead to you having to cancel your trip. Arggh! Decisions, decisions! We’ll try and make it easier for you. In this article, we’re going to take a look at some of the pros and cons regarding planning your trip a  year in advance as opposed to planning it on a shorter notice.

Researching Your Destination

If you allow yourself an entire year to plan your vacation, you will have ample opportunity to research your location. With time, you can plan your itinerary down to the hour of each day, assuring you take in all the sights you wish you see. You can also plan ahead for entrance fees, getting around from one attraction to the next and mapping it all out in such away that it saves time and maximizes your enjoyment.

Nipping Potential Problems In The Bud

Life happens and you can never be fully prepared for it, even under the best of circumstances. If you book your vacation well in advance and then have to cancel due to work or family emergencies, you stand to lose a lot of money in deposits and anything else you paid for already. Booking closer to your actual travel dates gives you some peace of mind that enough time has passed that whatever was going to happen would have already and each day you’re closer to your destination.

Flexible Payment Plans

Booking your vacation a year in advance gives you time to finance your trip in small payments, rather than having to pay up front in a lump sum. You can put up deposits for things like hotel rooms and car rentals to assure your space without having to pay the balance in full until you arrive. This is perfect if you need time to get all the money together for your trip. The downside to paying in installments is that they are rarely refundable in the event of a cancellation.

Last Minute Deals

Being flexible in your travel time and dates can save you a lot of money on accommodations, flights and other vacation expenses. A lot of airlines, cruise lines and hotels offer limited time discounts for those who can travel during a certain window. On the other hand, some travel accommodations are deeply discounted the farther in advance that you book them. This one is kind of a toss up so it’s best to do some research and see which way would save you the most, based on present offerings.

Do your homework to see where the best deals are and the time frame they give you to work in. Some destinations might offer better (or worse) deals than other at various times of the year so see what you’re up against before making any firm plans. Knowledge is power – the power to save you a lot of time, energy and stress during your vacation planning.

Rumpy pumpy on the road. Long-haul love affairs. Getting the holiday horn. Ships passing in the night, getting low down and dirty. Joining the mile-high club. Strangers at sunset, exchanging underwear and email addresses. Can we say ‘sex tourism’? Or just file it under ‘holiday romance’?

Call it what you like, but right now there are thousands, probably millions of amorous young things (ok, and old) far from home, getting it on with one another. And why not? It’s what our bits and pieces are for, isn’t it? Making each other happy? Exactly!
