7. What factors affect the premium I am charged?

There are many different factors taken into account when you insurance quote is calculated. Some of these factors are things which you have no control over, such as your suburb, which might be a high risk suburb based on claim information, or on the other hand could be more expensive because of the higher value of the third party risk. Other factors however, may give you more control over your premium price, such as making sure you have adequate security for your property, and making sure it is structurally safe and sound and in general good order.

8. What happens if I don't tell you about my past claims when I am asked?

If you do not disclose any past claim history information, you will not be given an accurate quote. All major insurance companies reserve the right to enquire about your claims history, and if there is evidence to suggest that you were deceptive, the insurer can refuse a claim. This makes it very difficult to obtain insurance in the future. Also bear in mind, that if you do take out a policy of insurance under false information, the insurer has every right to investigate your history and refuse to pay you at a time of claim, meaning you forfeit any money you have paid, and you will more than likely be liable for legal action also.
