This advice has been reviewed and reissued. Summary

  • We advise you to exercise caution and monitor developments that might affect your safety in Spain because of the risk of terrorism and street crime.
  • Pay close attention to your personal security and monitor the media for information about possible new safety or security risks.
  • Spanish authorities remain on alert against terrorist attacks, which could occur in places frequented by expatriates and travellers.
  • On 30 October 2008, a car bomb exploded in a parking lot at the University of Navarre in Pamplona, northern Spain, injuring 17 people.
  • Be a smart traveller. Before heading overseas:
