Outbreaks of dengue fever occur in Paraguay from time to time. For further information on dengue fever, see the Department of Health and Ageing's factsheet.

A number of cases of yellow fever have recently been reported from rural areas of central east Paraguay, in particular San Estanislao in the department of San Pedro. Suspected cases have also been reported on the outskirts of the capital Asuncion. Argentina has reported an outbreak of yellow fever in monkeys in an area of Misiones Province bordering Paraguay. We recommend travellers to the affected areas consult their doctor about the need for a vaccination for yellow fever.
