Travel is all about memorable sights and adventures…
Make the most of your holiday overseas with our
guide to the top 5 natural wonders
. We’ll help you experience the best the world has to
offer.
1. Victoria Falls
There are some amazing waterfalls in the world, but
measuring a mile across, Victoria Falls on the Zambezi River
are the widest – and probably the most spectacular.
Visit in March or April to see the Falls at their most
powerful. The views from the facing cliff are breathtaking,
but be prepared for plenty of spray!
2. Uluru
The largest monolith on Earth, Uluru (also known as Ayres
Rock), transforms through a remarkable range of colours as
the light changes across its three-and-a-half-kilometre
length. This extraordinary sight justifies the long journey,
especially if you time your visit for sunrise or sunset.
3. Mount Everest
You don’t need to climb up the world’s highest
mountain to appreciate the wonder of it. The Everest region
of Nepal offers treks to suit different levels of fitness
and enthusiasm, and as you explore this stunning landscape,
you constantly feel close to the mountain – even if
you don’t make it to Base Camp.
4. Cape Floral Region
This region of South Africa’s Western Cape is a Unesco
World Heritage Site – partly because it includes Table
Mountain, but also because it’s home to around 8,000
different plant species. One of the world’s six
designated ‘floral kingdoms’, the Cape Floral
Region boasts a particularly impressive variety of blossom
plants in all sizes, shapes and colours.
5. The Grand Canyon
However many times you’ve seen it in pictures and
films, nothing quite prepares you for the amazing sight of
Arizona’s Grand Canyon. It’s also a great visit
because of the range of activities you can do when you get
there, including hiking, rafting and camping. A must-see,
and must-do, experience.
Some of these destinations aren’t exactly the easiest
to get to. It’s worth using specialist travel
companies to arrange your trip, so you can experience these
natural wonders at their best. But make sure you have the
right travel insurance – then you can experience these
incredible locations worry-free.
