Even if you've lived here all your life, you'll
find something new to do in Sydney. Make the most of your
holiday, whether it's at home or away, with our
guide to the top 5 things to do in Sydney. We'll
help you experience the best the world - and Australia - has to offer.
1. Catch the Manly ferry
Why take a harbour cruise, when you can get the same
incredible views on the commuter ferry to Manly? For only
$6.40 you'll enjoy a 30-minute tour of Sydney's
best harbour beaches. And once you're there, you can
chill out in this seaside neighbourhood - swim in the
harbour or surf beach, walk along the ocean to Shelly Beach,
or have a drink at the Manly Wharf Hotel.
2. Climb the harbour bridge
This is one of the most popular tourist attractions in
Sydney. And there's a good reason - it's
simply an amazing way to experience Sydney Harbour.
It's completely safe, and easier than it looks!
3. Walk the harbour
There are many self-guided walks around Sydney Harbour. From
the Harbour Circle, which takes in five bridges during an
eight hour trek, to a leisurely stroll around the Royal
Botanic Gardens and Mrs Macquarie's Chair (pop into
the NSW Art Gallery while you're there). You can pick
up maps from the Tourist Information Offices.
4. Watch the sunset at Nielson Park, Vaucluse
This is one of Sydney's most beautiful harbour
beaches, in one of its most exclusive neighbourhoods. It has
incredible views west towards the city, and is a magical
place to sit at sunset with a glass of wine in hand. Cheers!
5. Taronga Zoo
Meet the giraffes with the best views of any zoo animals in
the world. Catch the ferry from Circular Quay to the zoo,
and the cable car (included in the admission price) up to
the top of the hill. You'll see animals from all over
the world, including Australian koalas, kangaroos, echidnas
and emus. But for something completely different, try their
'roar and snore' program, where you'll
have a wild overnight slumber party in a comfy tent at the
zoo.
