Bali is a beautiful island in the south of Indonesia, and a
favourite spot for tourists travelling around South East
Asia – especially if you're looking for a
relaxing tropical break with cultural wonders. Check out our
top 5 things to do in Bali
? We'll help you experience the best the world has to
offer.
Lake
Bratan
Lake Bratan (or Danau Bratan) fills the crater of an ancient
volcano, and sits beside a stunning 17
th
-century temple. At 1,200m above sea level, Lake Bratan is
probably a lot cooler than most spots in Bali, so great if
you've had enough of the heat.
Tanah Lot
Less than an hour's drive from the popular tourist hub
of Nusa Dua, Tanah Lot is a sight to behold. Not only is it
a beautiful temple in its own right, but Tanah Lot actually
sits on an offshore rock, which you can only walk to at low
tide. You won't be the only one there, but don't
let the crowds put you off.
Ubud
Monkey Forest
Sanctuary
The town of Ubud has recently grown into a great spot for
tourists, and the Monkey Forest is one of its most popular
attractions. The park actually occupies a sacred Hindu site,
and is split between four 'territories' –
each one home to a different family of monkey.
Seafood on the beach
If you visit Jimbiran Bay, be sure to leave enough time for
a leisurely meal on the beach. There are actually more than
40 restaurants to choose from, but considering the location,
it would be a shame to opt for anything other than seafood!
Gaya
Fusion of Senses
Bali is so full of natural wonder and beautiful ancient
temples, it's easy to forget that there's a lot
to see in the way of art galleries, too. This is one of the
more eclectic art centres, where there's always
interesting things going on.
Whatever you choose to do on your trip, don't forget
to organise travel insurance before you leave…
