  • Why is 1Cover no longer selling Home & Contents Insurance?
  • 1Cover has made a strategic business decision to no longer offer Home and Motor Insurance, focusing instead on our core offerings.

  • What will happen to my existing 1Cover insurance from 6th June 2018?
  • Your existing 1Cover policy is underwritten by Auto & General Insurance Company Limited (“the Insurer”). Your policy and any claims will continue to be administered by Auto & General Services Pty Ltd (“Auto & General”) until it becomes due for renewal at the end of its 12 month cover period. At this time, if you wish to renew your policy, you will be transitioned to an Auto & General insurance policy. For more information on Auto & General please click here. 

  • Who is Auto & General?
  • Auto & General is regulated by APRA and is a member of the Insurance Council of Australia.   • Who should I contact to make changes or updates to my 1Cover policy from 6th june 2018?
  • Please contact Auto & General on 1300 858 747. Please note, you will no longer be able to purchase insurance from 1Cover after 6 June 2018.

  • Is My Jewellery Covered?
  • If the jewellery was at home when it was lost and/or damaged, it’s covered for the replacement value. If you’d like your jewellery covered away from the home, you need Personal Effects cover.

    You can choose from two types of cover:
    1. Unspecified Personal Effects covers items valued at less than $1,000 away from the home. You don’t need to specify the item’s type or value on the insurance certificate.
    2. Specified Personal Effects covers items valued at more than $1,000 away from the home. You need to specify each item and its value on the insurance certificate.

    Note: When you claim on these items you may need to provide proof of ownership and/or valuation of the items.

  • What Are My Home And/Or Contents Insured For?
  • Under a standard Home and/or Contents Insured policy we cover you for:
     - Fire
     - Explosion
     - Theft and attempted theft
     - Malicious damage, vandalism, riot or civil commotion
     - Accidental breakage of glass, ceramic and sanitary fixtures
     - Storm and rainwater
     - Lighting
     - Earthquake
     - Sudden and unexpected escape of liquid
     - Impact at the home

    Limits and exclusions may apply. 

  • Do You Have Flood Cover?
  • If you already have home insurance with 1Cover, you can contact Auto & General about adding flood cover.

  • Who Is The Underwriter For 1Cover’s Home And Contents Insurance?
  • Auto & General Insurance Australia is the underwriter for 1Cover’s Home and Contents insurance policies. Auto & General Insurance Company is an Australian incorporated general insurer that has a long-term commitment to the Australian marketplace.

  • What Happens If I Don’t Tell You About My Past Claims When I Am Asked?
  • If you do not disclose any past claim history information, you will not be given an accurate quote. All major insurance companies reserve the right to enquire about your claims history, and if there is evidence to suggest that you were deceptive, the insurer can refuse a claim. This makes it very difficult to obtain insurance in the future. Also bear in mind, that if you do take out a policy of insurance under false information, the insurer has every right to investigate your history and refuse to pay you at a time of claim, meaning you forfeit any money you have paid, and you will more than likely be liable for legal action also.

  • What If I Have To Make A Home And Contents Insurance Claim?

    *Tip: It always helps to make sure you can provide as much evidence as possible, so that in the event of a claim, it is assessed quickly! Things like receipts and photos of items will help significantly, come claim time! It never hurts to have some extra evidence!
