"Very positive experience"

I had a very positive experience with 1Cover following a ski accident in Japan. Given the circumstances, I couldn’t be happier with the communication, support, and ongoing assistance provided by the team from day one. Their professionalism and regular updates made a stressful situation much easier to manage. This experience reinforced just how important it is to have comprehensive ski cover when travelling. I’m extremely grateful for the care and support I received and would highly recommend 1Cover to anyone planning a ski trip.

"Patient and Reassuring"

The team was patient and reassuring while I gathered the necessary documents for my claim. Email communication was fast and clear. It was really easy to upload files on the platform. My claim was resolved quickly and I was impressed with the entire process. The team’s responsiveness, patience, and clear communication made a big difference during a stressful time.

"Recommend very highly"

We had planned a holiday to New Zealand and due to a medical incident we could not go on our trip. We contacted 1Cover and they were very helpful. Once filled in the claim form with copies of documentation they processed our application within 10 days. They kept us updated all the way. Recommend very highly.

"Very happy & good value"

I was very happy with 1Cover Comprehensive Travel Insurance. The policy was good value. As we had to cancel our holiday due to unforeseen circumstances our holiday was fully covered by our travel agent & 1Cover Insurance all bar the $200 excess. The policy was easy to set up. The claim process took approximately five & half months only due to our travel agent waiting on different suppliers but that process was finalised 1Cover was very quick. I have used 1Cover twice now for travel insurance. I would highly recommend them.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if I miss my flight or if flights are delayed/cancelled?

In the first instance, you should contact the airline to see if any alternate arrangement can be made or if any compensation may be offered.  You should retain any documentation provided by the airline or receipts for any out-of-pocket expenses which you may incur as a result of the delay or cancellation so that you can submit them should you need to make a claim. We do not cover for cancellation, delays or rescheduling which are at the fault of the airline as the responsibility falls on the transport provider to supply you with the services you have paid them for. Please see more information about travel insurance and cancellation cover.

What happens if I get sick or injured overseas?

If you’re travelling internationally, 1Cover offers Emergency Medical Assistance anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. If you’re sick or injured, we advise that you or a member of your travelling party call our medical assistance team as soon as possible.

For minor ailments, such as those that only require a GP visit, you may choose to visit a doctor, pay for your visit upfront, and then submit your claim either from overseas or once you return home. Make sure that you keep all receipts and reports from your treating doctor, including the diagnosis and treatment notes and any other documents.

What if I ride a scooter or motorcycle overseas?

There are certain things you will need to be aware of in terms of your travel insurance if you’re riding a scooter, moped or motorcycle overseas. Find out everything you need to know here.

Can I extend my policy online?

Yes, if your policy hasn’t yet expired, you can extend your policy via the Policy Manager. If you log in and aren’t able to extend for some reason, you can get in contact with our friendly call centre.

What happens if I need to cancel my trip?

If you need to cancel your trip, notify any travel providers (airlines, accommodation, tour providers, etc) of your intention to cancel.

Make sure you check whether your travel providers will refund you. Sometimes, they will return deposits, fares, etc., depending on when you cancel and what your original contract states.

If you aren’t reimbursed, then check the certificate of insurance and the PDS to see whether your circumstances are covered.

Once you have done this, and you intend to claim, you’ll need to obtain and supply confirmations, refund advices, and terms and conditions. We request these for lodgement of your claim.

What do I do in the case of a theft?

A theft while you’re away is incredibly unsettling, but to substantiate your claim, you’ll need to report the theft to the police or nearest local authority within 24 hours of the incident and obtain a written report that can to be used as supporting documents.

Make sure that the police report you obtain is an official one, and that all the items that have been stolen are clearly detailed. You?ll also need to capture the circumstances surrounding the event. Remember, the more information on the report, the better.

When you submit your claim, you’ll also need to provide proof of purchase and/or ownership in relation to the stolen items.

Travellers often ask...

What Is travel Insurance?

Travel insurance helps protect you from unexpected events and financial losses while you’re travelling, whether overseas or within Australia. From trip cancellation and travel delays to medical emergencies, lost or stolen baggage, and other unforeseen events, travel insurance gives you peace of mind before and during your holiday.

Things don't always go according to plan, so having the right cover in place allows you to travel with confidence. From travel delays to accidental injuries,1Cover travel insurance has your back when things go sideways. Explore what we cover.

Why you need it?

You've booked your flights, you've packed your bags...but have you bought travel insurance? If you're leaving Australia, travel insurance is just as essential as a passport. Medical expenses are the number one reason to get insurance, believe us when we say the cost of medical treatment overseas really can be eye watering. Just take a look at some of our case studies to understand. What's more things can often go wrong like travel delays, lost luggage or even the big stuff like natural disasters and pandemics. So listen to Smarttraveller...If you can't afford travel insurance, you can't afford to travel.

How much should travel insurance cost?

Travel insurance policies vary in price depending on factors such as the length and destination of the trip, traveller's age and health, and the level of coverage or extras selected. On average, you can expect travel insurance to cost anywhere from 4% to 10% of the total cost of your trip.

Which is the best travel insurance?

The best policy for you will depend on your individual needs and preferences, but there are some essentials when looking for the right cover. When researching, look out for a policy which has adequate amount of cover for your holiday - your transport, accommodation as well as any luggage items and any pre-existing conditions. Make sure you understand the exclusions when you wouldn't be covered. And look for awards and reviews from previous customers to get an idea about customer service and claims. Compare our plans to see which is the best cover for you.
