Travelling As A Senior

Travel may get harder with age but as you get older you start to gain more free time to do the things you love.

Things To Consider

Maybe you've retired, or the kids have finally left the nest and you can afford to take that dream holiday. Whatever it is you want to have peace of mind when you travel.

Things to do before purchasing a Seniors Policy:

  • Let us know about any pre-existing medical conditions you have - some may mean you have to submit a Medical Declaration Form for assessment before a policy can be offered.
  • If you're 80 or over you'll need to submit a Medical Declaration Form for assessment before a policy can be offered.
  • We also have a specialist senior's travel insurance plan specific for those who are 70 and over.
  • Read the Policy Wording so you have an understanding of what is, and isn't covered.
  • Talk to one of our team members to clarify any questions you may have.

Safety Tips For Senior Travellers

  • Sort out your insurance when you book your holiday - this way you're covered before you even leave in case of cancellations.
  • Inform our team of any pre-existing conditions and make sure any medical conditions are well managed.
  • See your doctor for a medical check-up before you leave on your trip. Take a letter from your doctor detailing any medical conditions.
  • Go to the pharmacy and stock up on any medication you need for the trip. Take more medication than you'll need in case of travel delays, and always carry it with you in case of lost luggage.
  • If you intend travelling to areas where infectious diseases are present, make sure you are fully vaccinated.
  • Allow for plenty of recovery time in your trip. Rest is important so you don't get injuries.
  • If you are unsure of the water supply, drink bottled water. This way you will avoid picking upany unwanted sickness while you're on holiday.
  • Show your seniors cards at museums and other attractions and you may get you a cheaper entry ticket.
  • Seniors can be targets for pickpockets - be safe, don't travel alone at night, and don't flash your cash or valuables.
