Domestic Travel Insurance is designed for trips taken within Australia. Unlike many other providers, 1Cover offers protection for domestic trips when you’re travelling only 100KM away from your home.
Domestic travel insurance covers you for things like trip cancellation, rental car excess, losing your luggage and family emergencies. However, it’s important to note that domestic travel insurance doesn’t cover medical expenses.
When you hire a car in Australia, if your rental vehicle is involved in an accident, is damaged, or is stolen, you could be liable to pay thousands of dollars for the rental car excess charged by your hire car company.
Don’t get fleeced by your hire car company, visit carhireexcess.com.au
Covers all eligible age drivers on your rental vehicle agreement and you can reduce your excess to $0.

Your journey could be delayed by events outside of your control - like weather, or bushfires - so we provide cover for additional accommodation and meal expenses.

While you are in Australia, we are unable to cover any domestic medical expenses. As a travel insurer, we can't take the place of health insurance. There is legislation in place to prevent this. If you are an Australian permanent resident or citizen, you will likely have access to Medicare or your private health insurance.
We offer cover for all ages. Depending on your age, we may require a little more information, and certain exclusions may apply. See our Seniors Travel Insurance page for more details.
1Cover provides coverage for 100+ activities. While any medical costs arising from domestic activities can’t be covered, you may be covered for if you need to forfeit pre-paid fees or deposits if you're unable to travel. The reason we can’t cover medical costs is that we can't take the place of domestic health insurance. There is legislation in place to prevent this.
Dependants are covered for no extra cost, so you have added peace of mind when you take the kids and grandkids and see what Australia has to offer. Please note that dependant children are classed as under 19 and travelling with their parents or grandparents for their whole trip. Please be aware the rental vehicle excess benefit does not take the place of Rental Vehicle insurance. You have provision to claim for a reimbursement of up to $5,000 (unless you have opted to increase your excess) for any excess or deductible which you become legally liable to pay under your Rental Vehicle hiring agreement, if the Rental Vehicle is involved in an accident while you are driving, or is damaged or stolen while in your custody.
