FAQs About Seniors Travel Insurance

  • What Are The Benefits Of Having Travel Insurance For My Trip?
  • When you travel it's all about the new and unknown which unfortunately means you never know what could go wrong. Things like medical emergencies while overseas could cost $50,000+, and then there's lost luggage, stolen belongings and delayed flights which are add expense to an already costly holiday.

Travel is unpredictable and travel insurance is there to help provide you peace of mind that when the unexpected happens, we'll be there to help out. We advise you to read the Product Disclosure Statement to make sure this product is right for you. If you have any questions please call our friendly call centre

  • I'm Going On A Cruise Around Australia, What Travel Insurance Do I Need?
  • Once your ship leaves port, even if you're cruising Australian waters, you’re no longer covered for hospital or medical expenses by Medicare or your private health care provider, meaning they won't cover any expenses incurred on-board the ship. You’re also not covered by Medicare and private health when you’re on land for cruise excursions.

However, you can purchase a Cruise Pack to cover you when you’re on a cruise. If you’re taking a cruise within Australian waters, you will need to select a Comprehensive policy with the Cruise Pack add-on and select "Australia Cruise" as the destination/region. You can find out more about choosing your cruise region here.

  • Do i need to tell you all the countries i’m going to on a cruise?
  • If you’re going on a cruise, you must tell us every country the ship will visit. You will not be covered in countries you have not told us about.

  • Can I Apply To Extend My Travel Insurance Policy?
  • Yes. You must extend your policy before it expires (11.59pm AEST/AEDST). To extend your policy, you simply need to call the call centre on 1300 192 021, email us at info@1Cover.com.au or speak to a call centre representative via online chat. One of our trained travel insurance specialists will assist you in the policy extension. You'll be issued with a quote for the policy extension period. And you'll need to process a payment for this extended period. Please note there may be instances where a policy extension is not available

  • What Is A Pre-Existing Medical Condition?
  • A pre-existing medical condition is a condition you have at the time of buying your medical condition. It may affect your travel insurance options. See our pre-existing medical condtions page for more information.

  • What Pre-Existing Medical Conditions Cannot Be Covered?
  • Essentially, if a medical condition not automatically covered, it needs to be disclosed. This doesn’t necessarily mean it won’t be covered at all, but there may be certain conditions where you’ll need to pay a bit extra for your pre-existing condition to be covered, or you may be able to get cover, but not for your pre-existing condition. You’ll find out when you take the short medical assessment when you’re buying your policy.

  • If I Am Having A Stopover Outside My Selected Country Will I Be Covered?
  • When you apply for the policy you need to tell us where you are travelling to. The premium you pay for the policy depends on your destination/s. The policy only covers loss injury or illness which occurs in the countries you have told us you will visit; however all stopovers of up to 2 nights in countries other than the USA are also covered.

NB. We’ll cover you for stopovers in the USA if you also nominate USA as a destination when you apply for cover.

  • What Happens If I Come Home Early?
  • Your policy covers the full duration of your trip. There are no refunds should you come home earlier than planned.
