Did you forget to purchase travel insurance before you left? Don’t stress. If you’re an Australian resident, you can purchase an Already Overseas policy. Please note: there is no cover provided for the first 72 hours from the start date of your certificate of insurance.
Coronavirus
An Already Overseas policy provides the same benefits as an Overseas Comprehensive Policy. The only difference is that you must be overseas when you purchase this policy, because this policy is designed for those travellers who have forgotten their insurance or forgot to extend an existing policy and now need to purchase more travel insurance.
It's important to note that there is no cover provided under any section of the policy for the first 72 hours from the start date on your certificate of insurance. Other exclusions apply. Please read the PDS for details.
Simple. You get many of the same benefits as if you had purchased a policy before you went overseas. If you purchase your policy after you've left the country, you’ll just need to wait 72 hours from the start date on your Certificate of Insurance before you coverage starts.
To see a list of things your policy will cover, visit our coverage page.
Please note that the Already Overseas policy has a few exclusions, so check the PDS before you purchase.
