Easy to claim, great value

Insurance companies really show their colours when it's time to claim, and I couldn't fault 1Cover when I had to cancel my overseas family trip when my daughter was hospitalised 3 weeks from departure date. Recovered all lost funds for flights, accommodation and concert tickets.

Appalling

I will never choose this insurance company again. I submitted my claim almost a month ago. They calculated my settlement amount incorrectly, and have yet to respond to my email explaining why the amount is incorrect. There is clearly a lack of concentration when reading insurance claims, because I stipulated everything very carefully in my description of the events that occurred, and provided all necessary documents. I am unsure why it is necessary to upload copious amounts of documents when they are clearly not looked through properly anyway. If they were studied correctly, it would be clear what the settlement amount should be. The response time is essentially that of a snail’s pace and it is very frustrating, especially because the customer service numbers that are provided are for emergencies only, so there is no one I can call to solve this simple issue on the spot. I am extremely dissatisfied and will be telling everyone I know to avoid this insurance company.

Travel Insurance

I have been using 1Cover for many years when I travel overseas. I find their rates as competitive as any you'll find and the value for money exceeds that of bigger companies. 1Cover will always be my first place for travel insurance.

Bit of a scam

They don't tell you that things depreciate and you will never recover the value of what you paid ... We lost a shoe and after the excess we got barely anything back

One of the better travel insurance companies

On the whole a responsive and reasonable TI company. The only issueI have is that if an airline cancels your flight and you're stuck somewhere through no fault of your own, 1Cover tells you to claim from the airline first. Fair enough, but the airline's compensation is measly and 1Cover doesn't cover additional charges for having to change connecting flights. So by the time you've deducted the $200 excess, there's very little compensation for out-of-pocket expenses from a delayed or cancelled trip.

It was a thorough and very fair claims experience

I have used them for many years but have never had to put in this type of claim before, so one is initially somewhat anxious about the whole process. The clearly set out process clearly helped on this front as did their timely responses. The ability to upload and add documents later also eased the pressure on the whole process. I also thought that their emails having a named claims consultant very good as if one needed follow-up assistance it was there.

We are an older couple and travel insurance quotes are hard to come by or very expensive. We found 1Cover extremely competitive (in fact, costing us less this year for 6 weeks than for 4 weeks last year - both trips to Europe).
When my husband ended up in ICU 7 days before we were to leave, I contacted the company to advise that we would be cancelling and they were very helpful, advising me of what documentation I would need to supply.
Of course, we are disappointed not to have our trip but1Cover at least did not add to our disappointment. We will definitely look to 1Cover when next we travel.
I have already recommended 1Cover to at least five of my friends and will certainly continue to do so.

Took a month to process, received half

Every single email you send takes up to 10 BD for a response. So if you are missing any information and ask a question then it takes up to a further 10 days. Rather than being able to clarify information required, the frustration in processing has you giving up. In the end I only requested accomodation coverage and ended up receiving half because the note said 2 guests when there was only one. The claim was processed before I was able to speak to the hotel for them to provide me with the correct receipt and again there was another 2 weeks of waiting. Would not use again.

Failure to cover flight cancellation.

Took out insurance in good faith but apparently should have read the fine print. My flight was cancelled for staffing reasons, not covered. Can only be for strike, riot, hijack, civil protest, weather, natural disaster or accident affecting your mode of transport.
Absolutely disgraceful, another sham case for the travel insurance industry.

Submitting a Claim

The Customer Service has been amazing! I was dubious when I could not contact 1Cover by phone but there was no need to worry. I was kept up to date regularly and all my correspondence with them was answered in a courteous and timely manner. I have insured with 1cover for many years and will continue to do so.

Broken arm in bali

Best $130 I've ever spent, after tripping over in Indonesia, I required emergency surgery and 4 days in the hospital. 1 cover was great, covered all medical costs, cost of flight changes plus extra empty seat ( for arm space) and extra accommodation for my travel companion.

The last hassle that you need when your partner becomes sick just before you are to go on holiday is to worry about will the travel company honor their obligations. Needless to say, 1 cover was great to deal with and kept us informed of all that we needed to do.

Great price and no hassles

Used 1cover, as they offered a great price. No hassles making a claim online. Also, company was very responsive and help with communication via email.

Low cost insurance but excellent claim experience

We had an expensive holiday booked, Airlines and cruise. Unfortunately I got sick and we had to cancel about one month out from travel. We did get some money back from refunds but were still out of pocket more than 50% of the holiday cost. We submitted a claim for a substantial amount to 1Cover. We were asked to provide two forms. A completed doctors statement and a statement of refunds from the travel agent. Once we provided those forms the claim process was quick and easy. The whole process was completed on line. We were paid in full about month after submitting the completed claim. We are extremely pleased with the claim and payment process. When we took out this policy it was the cheapest we could find on-line. You are always a little nervous about this but, as it turned out, we need not have been. I can recommend 1Cover.
