Euro summer trips never go out of style. But this year, a fresh wave of wanderlust is sweeping across the continent. Some countries are topping more travel lists than last year, based on a clear uptick in travel insurance policy sales — a strong sign of rising interest.
From charming cities and scenic coastlines to unique adventures, these trending European holiday destinations are turning heads for all the right reasons.
Travel during the European shoulder season (otherwise known as the ‘off season’) has risen significantly with travellers looking to beat the heat while easing their euro trip budgets. Given the overcrowded nature of some of Europe’s most popular travel hotspots, more travellers are opting to visit in early spring (April to early June) and early Autumn (September to mid-November) rather than the sweltering summer months.
Not only are these windows more comfortable climate-wise, but airfares and accommodation costs also tend to drop, offering budget-conscious travellers a more relaxed, affordable, and enjoyable European experience. With extreme heatwaves and wildfires becoming increasingly common in destinations like Greece, Italy, and Turkey, travelling outside the hottest months is not just economical, it’s potentially safer, too.
To get a clearer view of where travellers are headed in 2025, we've visualised changes in travel insurance policy activity for popular destinations compared to the previous summer. This gives us insight into where travellers are heading, and in some cases, where interest may be cooling. On the map below, yellow highlights our most trending destinations while green shades show countries still on the rise.
