Do not use 1Cover

My experience with 1Cover was disgusting. After the natural disaster of Typhoon Haiyan we had no choice but to cancel our trip with the assurance by 1Cover staff that we would have full coverage.
In claiming our cancellation fees and lost deposits we were not covered for our losses as they said our cancellation was a simple 'change of mind' despite the fact we were told otherwise and the country was in ruins.
Do not use 1Cover.

Failed to provide purchased service

Our policy doc was not checked by us until we got an email asking how the holiday was...what? We haven't been yet! Someone has put the wrong month on the policy and 1Cover refuses to correct it. Buy another policy they say and won't refund our money. Hardly the type of business one could recommend to family and friends. Poor form!

Beware

We found out when we made a claim because of a family emergency that they would not pay our claim because the emergency, my father being admitted to hospital just before we were to travel & subsequently dying, was too old. My father wasn't travelling with us but they had a clause right at the bottom of their PDS stating that in any claim for a personal emergency the person must be younger than 85 years old.. I will never use this company again, I don't think they were fair or reasonable as the clause they refer to is hidden at the bottom of the PDS and who would have thought that they would put this as an exclusion!!! Just beware it is a horrible feeling being told you can't claim, your father was too old !

Highly recommended

While looking for insurance for our holiday to Europe, 1cover had the best price I could find. When my husband got sick in Greece and had to spend a couple of days in hospital, they were 100% supportive over the phone. Once we got home the claim process was simple. I have used 1cover every time I have been overseas since.

5 months since claim and still waiting

In February I had 2 simple, petty thefts in Asia, for both I submitted police reports, completed claims form & credit card receipts.
Since then, I have sent over 16 emails to 4 different people. I have put in writing 4 MORE times re-explaining the events to 2 different employees (+ police reports) and still I have not received 1 cent.

I paid for 1 YEARS insurance, ($1300 approx) was robbed $1550, their deductible of $200 and they want to pay me $190 ??????????????

BTW: I still haven't been paid 1 cent. Stay away from this company, they are incompetent & don't answer emails and will do everything to delay or not pay. I have had travel insurance on and off for 30 years and never before had a problem.

It was comforting to know that I could afford to have 1Cover Travel Insurance. When the unthinkable occurred & I needed to claim against my policy, any apprehension I had about being treated properly was swept aside by 1Cover staff. Most helpful & reassuring, they were on my side!

I am very happy with the final result and also the support I received overseas from both your medical assistance team and also claims staff.

It is always difficult when you have a health problem overseas so it was great to have the backup.

Absolutely Awful

Very unhelpful when it came to my claim. Basically told me to just claim through my sisters insurance, even though it was something to do with me. Worst company I've ever dealt with. 0/10 would not recommend.

Quick, hassle free travel insurance!

Another great holiday with peace of mind, even when saying no to the expenses excessive reducing insurance the car rental companies have on offer. I am telling all my friends and will continue to take the cover out.

Motor Bikes And Quad Bikes Not Covered Beware!

We recently took out 1Cover travel Insurance to go to Europe. In Santorini we hired a Quad bike as this is the most common mode of hire transport on this
Island. Unfortunately we had an accident. We immediately called 1cover for assistance as there was a dispute over what we should pay. We were told as it was Sunday no one could help us unless it was a medical emergency and to call back the following day. We were then forced to Pay One Thousand Euro on the spot or go to Jail until the judge was available, so naturally we paid. I spent our next two days of our 3 day trip to the Island getting police reports, receipts, quotes etc so I could support our claim. I also emailed 1cover that day explaining every detail and got a reply telling me what I needed to provide to claim. At NO TIME was I told they didn't even cover bikes. I then emailed 1cover on my return to Australian checking what else was required by them to claim and spoke to them on the phone. Again I was not told I was wasting my time. I got documents in Greek translated and went to great trouble. After not hearing back from 1Cover in the ten day time frame I rang them. After 43 minutes on hold I was told the policy does not cover bikes and to read the PDS. Great! Firstly the PDS tells you want vehicles it does cover but no where does it say "we Don't Cover Bikes", secondly nobody previously told me all my efforts were in vain and that I was wasting my time.
Still 3 weeks later I have had no formal response to my claim. Thanks for nothing Alliance. I will never use you again and as I work in the insurance industry I will sure to spread the word about your poor service and misleading information.

easy to compare and purchase, good value for money, extensive cover.

I have used 1 Cover several times. The only thing I don't know is the claim experience, as everything went well on each and every trip. Good Omen? Otherwise 1 Cover is excellent, highly recommended.

Easy insurance

Fortunately, no need to claim this time but previously,I did, and 1Cover were fast and helpful in settling my claim. I will continue to use and recommend them in the future.

No worries travelling with 1Cover. We spent two weeks touring with "Outback Spirit", using a different hotel/motel accommodation every night. This was followed by two weeks operating from a single base using a hire car for daily travel. Worry-free travel and touring with 1Cover.

reliable and helpful travel insurance

My previous trip I broke my leg whilst in Thailand and needed urgent surgery. 1Cover were amazing with their help. They paid all my hospital bills and their medical team rang me every day to check on my progress and treatment. Their care provided reassurance whilst in a foreign country.

The best insurance cover is the one you never need to use

Our knowledge that we had excellent cover added to the enjoyment of our trip, as it gave us peace of mind and allowed us to concentrate one fun things. The initial premium was good value for money, leaving more for us to spend during our holiday.

1 cover travel insurance- excellent on all counts.

I have used 1Cover several times in the past and I only have had to make one claim- thank god - and I found them to be excellent with payment of expenses and reimbursements to me. The only thing I was not reimbursed for was airport parking. A small price to pay for the amount of claim that was submitted. Cover easy to purchase on line and as I was a repeat customer, I only had to phone this time and all my details came up in the system. It took less than 5 minutes for this to be done. I recommend 1Cover to anyone I know travelling overseas. Staff were very helpful when the claim was submitted.

They will do anything to not pay you

I recently lodged a claim against my travel insurance policy with one cover. The claim number is in the subject line

I have waited the 10 business days and then today I get a call from a soft spoken lilly who is apparently the claim manager for my claim

She asks me to re iterate the details of my claim, which I do. She then proceeds to tell me since I put a bag down by my side instead of holding it, I haven't taken reasonable care of my belongings and that my claim will be declined. I ask her if I can speak to someone else and she says wait for a letter and that will tell you what to do. I push the issue and then she starts talking over me and I said, sh*t will you let me talk and then she hung up because I abused her.

Understandably I raise my voice a little and say "sh*t" and she says I need to stop swearing and then hangs up on me!!! Are you serious?

On the financial ombudsman's site.. They encourage me to contact the company first to resolve my dispute but I can't even find them there because they are so dodgy. You guys own that company so now I'm contacting you and hopefully you can help me out

I put my bag by my leg (touching it for **** sake) for less than 5 mins. I don't think that's not taking care of my belongings and for you guys to say that and then decline my claim is abhorrent.

I have never claimed on a travel policy for myself in my life. I always do the right thing and purchase travel insurance. I chose 1 cover because the price was really good. To good to be true.. Turns out it is because they're clearly not going to pay any claim.
